Our genuine COLORBOND® Corrugated Roofing Sheets in .42 BMT are one of the most popular choices for Australian homes, sheds, garages, patios and carports. Manufactured from premium BlueScope steel, this traditional corrugated roofing profile combines the classic Australian look with reliable everyday performance.
If you need corrugated roof sheets cut to size, available in genuine COLORBOND® colours and delivered fast, this is the practical go-to option for residential and light commercial projects.
.42 BMT is the most common thickness selected for standard residential roofing where normal spanning conditions apply. It offers an excellent balance of strength, weight and value.
Many customers choose .42 BMT for:
If your build requires heavier specifications, higher wind ratings or engineering requirements, .48 BMT or a concealed-fix profile like COLORBOND® KLIP-LOK® 700 Hi-Strength roofing may be worth considering.
The choice between .42 BMT and .48 BMT corrugated roofing comes down to spanning requirements, wind exposure and project type:
If your build engineer or roofing plan doesn't specify, .42 BMT is the standard choice.
Australian roofing standards (AS 1170.2) define wind regions A through D. .42 BMT corrugated roofing is suitable for the majority of Region A and B builds. For Region C (most of Queensland coast north of Bundaberg, Western Australia coast north of Geraldton) and Region D (Northern Territory, far north Queensland), specifications often require .48 BMT, tighter purlin spacing and additional fasteners - check with your engineer before ordering.
Each corrugated sheet provides 762mm effective cover. This is the usable installed width after sheet overlap and matters when calculating how many sheets you need.

What does .42 BMT mean?
BMT stands for Base Metal Thickness - the actual steel thickness before coatings are applied. .42 BMT is the standard residential gauge for corrugated roofing in Australia.
What is the maximum sheet length?
Cut to your length up to 10m. Long lengths can be installed in one piece from ridge to gutter without end laps.
What is the effective coverage width?

What screws should I use?
We recommend 12 x 50mm Multifix screws - colour-matched to the full COLORBOND® range for a clean finished look.
