Frequently Asked Questions

Please see below for our current list of frequently asked questions. If you can't find an answer to your question here, please click here to use our web form or call us on: 1300 886 944

Q: Is your steel made in Australia?

Of course! We only use Australian BlueScope Steel. COLORBOND® and ZINCALUME® which are backed by BlueScope Steel warranties.

All products supplied by metalroofingonline.com.au comply with all relevant Australian Standards for your peace of mind.

Q: How do I order my specific custom length?

We understand every one's order sometimes requires more specific lengths than online, so please email us or phone 1300 886 944 with specific requests. We can then email you an invoice for payment. We are working on custom lengths available online.

Q: Do your prices include GST?

Yes, all our prices have GST already included in the total price.

Q: Can I have roof flashings folded / made to my custom requirements?

Yes you can. Simply download our custom flashings order form in any of flashings here, complete it and return it to us to sales@metalroofingonline.com.au

Q: Can the roofing be installed upside down?

No. The coating on the underside of the sheet has a different film thickness and UV absorbance capabilities which are not designed for prolonged exposure to weather. At the same time, roofing profiles are designed to be used one side up and may leak if installed the wrong way. However, there is a process called "reversed rolled" (colour on the underside available for applications where the reverse side of the sheet will be visible)

Q: How much is delivery?

Please enter your delivery postcode in the delivery checker on each page or see our delivery page for more details.

Q: How do I track my order?

Once you order has being processed / dispatched customer service will send you an email / text message with any postage tracking details if required. Our drivers may also call / text you when they are on their way. Every so often, your order might be dispatched from different locations, don't worry - this will not change the cost of your order.

If you are collecting from the Mornington warehouse, you will receive a text message once your order is ready for collection.

Q: Is your price for roofing per square metre or lineal metre?

The prices on our roofing, guttering, flashings etc are all priced in lineal metres not square metres.

Q: How do I order online?

Simply add your items to the shopping cart and complete the check out process, selecting your required delivery option and payment method.

Orders are processed using the secure online credit card payment gateway Stripe, PayPal or via Direct Deposit.

Please note - Direct Deposit payments take a little longer to process so please allow an extra delivery day.

This is the most stringent level of certification available in the payments industry. To accomplish this, we make use of best-in-class security tools and practices to maintain a high level of security at Stripe. Millions of customers in over 120 countries use this payment system.

Of course you can! We can process your order over the phone or email. A tax invoice for payment will be then sent. Anything to make it easier for you! Call us on 1300 886 944 or email enquiries@metalroofingonline.com.au

Q: I need COLORBOND® Sheets today in my selected colour and length?

There are so many different COLORBOND® colours available and everyone has different lengths so we are unable to carry sheets that are "sitting on the shelf". Your order is custom made in your selected colour and your specific length normally within 3 - 4 working days.

Q: What vehicle can I use to collect my sheets?

If you collect the goods yourself, please ensure you have a vehicle/trailer appropriate in size that will safely transport the weight and length of the order. I have attached a photo from Vic Roads with some guidelines, please ensure your research the appropriate load restrictions that may relate to your order according Vic Roads Rules & Regulations. * IMPORTANT: Sheets, flashings, gutter ETC will not be placed inside vehcles, ie station wagons etc***

Q: Can I walk on a COLORBOND roof?

Normally it's OK to walk on a roof made from COLORBOND® steel. However safety precautions should be taken, including the wearing of soft rubber soled shoes and any necessary precautions for working at heights. You should also take into account the manufacturer's recommendations about where to place your feet on the profile to prevent deformation. Some roofs are designed to be 'non trafficable' (meaning they're not designed to be walked on). This should be noted on designs, plans and is sometimes signposted. If you are unsure whether a roof is trafficable, treat it as non trafficable until you can confirm otherwise.

Q: Do you have any gutter installation advice?

For practical tips on gutter installation and maintenance view our videos on You Tube. Take good care of your guttering before installation. We recommend that you view the guide and discuss the points with your builder prior to installation. Additionally, to confirm the authenticity of your purchase, ask your installer to show you the COLORBOND® steel brand mark printed on the inside of your guttering.

Q: What is the colour of the underside of the COLORBOND® roofing and walling?

On standard COLORBOND® steel it's called Shadow Grey (similiar in colour to Shale Grey).

Q: What is the fire rating of the steel?

As a result of this testing we are able to determine that LYSAGHT® products manufactured from BlueScope’s COLORBOND® steel, ZINCALUME® steel or galvanised steel materials all have a Spread-of-Flame index of 0 (zero) and as such are considered non-combustible materials in accordance with the National Construction Code clauses C1.12 (e) and C7.12 (e). Additional information in relation to use of COLORBOND® steel products in bush fire prone areas may be sourced from The BlueScope Fact File Steel cladding details for bushfire-prone construction at: www.steelselect.com/download_centre/ download.php?id=5108

BlueScope has commissioned CSIRO to undertake a comprehensive range of testing to determine the Flammability of various permutations of COLORBOND® steel, ZINCALUME® steel and galvanised steel material. These tests have been conducted in accordance with AS1530.3: SIMULTANEOUS DETERMINATION OF IGNITABILITY, FLAME PROPAGATION, HEAT RELEASE AND SMOKE RELEASE.

Q: What warranties are available?

There are generally two types of warranty available to consumers of BlueScope Steel products:

  • A warranty against defects is known as a "Manufacturer’s Warranty", this covers the materials, such as COLORBOND® steel, that certain steel products are made from.
  • A Performance Warranty, or "Express Warranty", assures consumers that the end product will perform as expected for a specified period.

For more details, such as whether a warranty is available for your desired application and product selection, the applicable terms and conditions or how to apply for the warranties, please talk to your supplier or go to BlueScope Steel warranties pages. In addition, consumers have rights under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 which cannot be excluded, modified or restricted.

Q: How do I work out the sqaure metre price for the roofing sheets?

To work out the square metre price from the lineal metre price: Lineal metre price / (divide) by the cover width of the sheet. IE $13.20 / .762 (cover width of corrugated iron) = $17.32
